In this role, you'll package purchases, assist customers, maintain the store, and lend a hand wherever you are needed. If you enjoy staying active, love helping people, and take pride in a store that looks and feels great, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going out of your way to make every visit a great onePackage customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportationBring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout your shiftClean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom, and sweep and mop floors as neededClean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicableStock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and know the location of merchandise in the store and backroomPull product forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearanceCheck prices on products as neededMaintain front end supplies including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary itemsHelp train new courtesy clerksDeliver product to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelinesShovel, salt, and sand walkways as neededWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variablesPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accuratelyUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writingWork effectively as part of a team to keep the store clean and customers happyReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Service ManagersEducation and ExperienceNo education or experience requirements; we will provide all the training you need to succeedPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis role keeps you active throughout the store and surrounding exterior areas. You will have regular exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, dirt, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
