Details Work in PACU, Pre-Op, and Phase 2 Recovery across two locations within the same hospital system (main hospital and Day Surgery Center) Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation 1:1 patient ratios 3x12-hour day shifts with start times ranging from 0530 to 1100 Weekend shifts required as needed per unit needs No on-call requirements Required to float within scope to both the main hospital and Day Surgery Center locations Uses Epic (Excellian) for charting Requirements Active MN RN license (pending license accepted) BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS required; additional PALS preferred 1-2 years of recent PACU/Pre-Op/Phase 2 specialty experience required Previous travel nursing experience required Epic charting experience required Skilled in airway assessment, care of ventilated patients, extubation, and interpretation of ABGs Experience with cardiovascular monitoring, arterial line management, and dysrhythmia recognition Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration Experience with pre/post-operative patient care including discharge instructions and medication reconciliation Additional Information Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no local radius exception for this position Provide PACU and pre/post-operative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiac, ortho, neuro, GI, and vascular procedures Perform patient monitoring for conscious sedation, general anesthesia, MAC, and nerve blocks Support pre-op assessments, patient education, and post-op recovery protocols Float to affiliate hospitals nearby as needed Requesting time off should ideally be limited to no more than 5 days Previous perm staff or per diem employees must have a 3-month gap since their last shift before returning as a traveler First-time travelers are accepted for this role One supervisor reference is required for consideration Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to former perm employees American Traveler Job ID P-747342.
