Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is seeking an experienced physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join our emergency department team on a full-time basis. This role offers flexibility, strong physician collaboration, and the opportunity to practice in a busy, community-focused emergency department within a highly respected health system.

The APC will provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency care to a diverse adult and pediatric population while working collaboratively with emergency medicine physicians, nursing staff, and support services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform medical screening exams, patient evaluations, and documentation in the ED
• Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and injuries across varying acuity levels
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and EKGs
• Develop and implement patient treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
• Perform procedures appropriate to APC scope of practice (e.g., suturing, splinting, abscess I&D)
• Provide patient education, discharge instructions, and follow-up planning
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory standards
• Participate in multidisciplinary communication to ensure safe, efficient patient care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
• Current New Jersey license in good standing
• National board certification (NCCPA or AANP/ANCC)
• BLS and ACLS required (PALS preferred or required upon hire)
• Minimum 1 - 2 years of EM experience as an APC
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Competitive Compensation, with an estimated base salary of $85 to $85 hourly.
