Firmware Engineer III, Wireless Data and Voice Path Location: Mountain View, CA, USA Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in modem protocol development, with a specific focus on 3GPP LTE and 5G NR data or audio path development. 5 years of experience in coding with a general purpose programming language (e.g., C/C++), wireless communications, mobile, and embedded systems. Preferred qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience with the 3GPP L2 protocol stack, including MAC, RLC, and PDCP layers. Experience in LTE and 5G MAC layer scheduling, including data prioritization, HARQ, and C‑DRX alignment. Knowledge of wireless audio path components, including Jitter Buffer Management (JBM) and RTP protocol optimizations. Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities Enhance modem data path and voice traffic path features to improve user experience. Optimize LTE and 5G related audio paths including JBM, RTP, PDCP/RLC and MAC in the wireless modem. Analyze, debug and fix modem protocol issues from the testing team, certification lab and customers. Work and design with the global carriers engineering team to meet customers performance and feature requirements. Collaborate with cross‑layer teams, including layer 1 and Android audio related teams. Compensation The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $138,000‑$198,000 plus bonus, equity and benefits. Compensation details provided during the hiring process.
