About the Position

Job Title: Staff Nurse Specialty Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Six months to three years of Nursing (RN) experience License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with intensive cardiac patients (CHF, COPD, end-stage heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and normothermia). Experience with stroke patients (thrombectomy/TNK). ICU overflow experience. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. Prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is essential. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This is in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients. Serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment and considerations of safety and effectiveness. Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to hospital policy. Shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Actively participates in and supports nursing governance and improvement initiatives. Engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completes all mandatory education requirements. Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. Participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop. May perform other duties as assigned.
