Risk and Safety Analyst PURA III

Overview Join the Public Advocates Office. This position focuses on protecting Californians from health, safety, and economic consequences of catastrophic events initiated by failures from aging utility infrastructure. The role applies leadership, technical, and analytical skills to promote utility safety and advocate for safe and reliable electric and gas service. Responsibilities Analyze utility risk mitigation performance, including cost, cost effectiveness, and risk reduction. Apply your leadership, technical, and analytical abilities to promote utility safety and protect consumers. Advocate to ensure that electric and gas customers receive safe and reliable service. Collaborate with team members to understand and address safety and risk management needs. Support preparation for interviews and other selection processes as appropriate to the classification. Qualifications and Requirements Experience and abilities to understand safety and risk management. Experience and abilities to exercise initiative, independence, and resourcefulness in achieving team goals and objectives. Experience and abilities to write clearly, persuasively, and concisely, including the ability to identify issues and recommend effective courses of action. Prepare and submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) with specific details and examples demonstrating training, experience, and education relevant to the position. The SOQ should address the following: Describe your experience with safety and risk management; describe your initiative and ability to work independently; describe your ability to write clearly and persuasively. The SOQ must be no smaller than 11-point Arial, single-spaced, and no more than two pages. Submission requirements include completing the STD 678 state application with dates, duties and responsibilities, and supervisor contact information; resumes are not accepted in place of the completed form. Work Location and Conditions Locations may include San Francisco, Sacramento, or Los Angeles, with telework flexibility as permitted by government code and operational needs. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two (2) days per week reporting to the assigned headquarters; telework arrangements may be subject to change. Travel may be required.
