Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and an active California RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 4 Triage bays, 11 LDR rooms, 2 ORs, NICU, and Post-Partum
• 24-hour OB hospitalist and OB anesthesia coverage on unit
• Low and high-risk L&D patient population, including neonates, adolescents, and adults
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• 4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday nights)
• May be placed on call if not needed for a scheduled shift; voluntary on-call otherwise
• Floating to Perinatal may be required as needed
• Charting system: Allscripts (eMD); Epic experience required
• Additional unit systems include SBAR and Omnicell

Requirements

• Active California RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of L&D RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficient in external fetal monitoring and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Ability to circulate for C-sections
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Return/former staff are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• An onsite EKG exam is required prior to start: 20 questions (17 rhythm strips, 3 general), 80% minimum passing score, 45-minute time limit, with two attempts permitted; failure results in assignment cancellation
• Additional specialty-specific modules must be completed prior to start
• RTO of no more than 3 days total for the contract must be submitted upfront and cannot be modified after submission (only cancellations are permitted)
• No RTO is permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Holiday coverage is expected; one holiday RTO may be submitted but is not guaranteed to be approved
• This is a smoke- and nicotine-free facility; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
