ARC Sales and Production Associate

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities, with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Sales and Production Associate to work in a production store and be responsible for performing a wide variety of duties in the store and the production area. The Sales and Production Associate will maintain order and create and sustain a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain customer relationships. Responsibilities and Duties Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships. Assist, as required, with store operations. Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner. Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy. Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization. Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and ‘ragged out’ in accordance with the ‘ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR.’ Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property. Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management. Maintain a clean and clutter free work area. Be well‑versed in and comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual. This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor). Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, Assistant Store Supervisor, and/or Administrator. Cashier/Sales Floor – Comply with all cash handling and security standards as relates to cash register operations, daily sales reports and bank deposits. Sort, price, stock and ‘rag out’ showcase merchandise and other areas as directed. Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code. Maintain merchandise displays as directed. Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner. Sorter – Sort minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department. Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed. Assist with hanging merchandise as needed. Assist running clothing racks as needed. Hanger/Tagger – Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8 hour period. Assist sorting clothing as needed. Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality and condition of each piece. Acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value. Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item. Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner. Runner – Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category and color order. Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned. Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar. Bric a Brac – Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily. Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item. Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner. Shoes/Accessories – Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily. Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner. Domestics – Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required. Books/Records/Toys – Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required. Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item in accordance with established policies. Furniture/Electrical – Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required. Ticket all electrical merchandise using ‘sold as is’ tickets and assign an individual fair market price for each item. Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy. Donations/Maintenance – Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily. Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor. Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner. Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities. Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment. Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day. Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned. Bale ragouts and trash as required. Perform lawn and garden work as needed. Able to lift 100 pounds. Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
