About the Role

The Company is in search of a Vice President, Head of Engineering Practice to lead the establishment and scaling of consistent backend engineering standards across teams. This pivotal role is a blend of strategic and hands-on responsibilities, with a focus on driving engineering standardization, building reusable frameworks, and enabling modern development approaches, including the integration of AI within the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will be a key influencer, fostering a culture of collaboration, consistency, and engineering excellence, and will be expected to have a strong, recent hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot, as well as a proven track record in building reusable frameworks or shared services. Key responsibilities for the Vice President, Head of Engineering Practice include defining and enforcing API design principles, service patterns, and best practices, driving alignment across distributed engineering teams, and ensuring the scalability and maintainability of backend systems. The role also involves acting as a technical thought leader, providing real-time guidance to engineers, and contributing to proof-of-concept work. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in backend development, including RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and both SQL and NoSQL databases. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior engineers and architects are essential, as is experience in driving engineering standardization across multiple teams or business units. A background in regulated industries such as financial services or insurance, and experience with AI integration and emerging technologies, are preferred.
