This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced technician who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment issues, mentoring other technicians, and helping keep operations running safely and efficiently. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record Minimum 5 years of experience repairing diesel trucks, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or similar machinery Strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, brakes, steering, suspension, and drivetrains Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, and lifting devices Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance records Preferred Qualifications Prior Lead Technician or maintenance leadership experience Experience with diesel diagnostic software Experience with CMMS systems Experience with construction, recycling, material-processing, or heavy equipment operations Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly Frequent use of hands, arms, and repetitive motion Ability to work around moving machinery and industrial equipment Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to work around noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and uneven terrain What Makes Someone Successful at McGill?
