Cyber Operations Analyst - Oahu

Job Function Serves as a technical specialist responsible for monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting the network and security status of all components comprising Hawaiian Electric networks, systems, and software. Works as a member of the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) team providing 24x7 operations and security monitoring. Essential Functions Perform proactive monitoring of system and network alarms and alerts to identify components that may cause degradation or failure. Perform security monitoring, fault isolation, and diagnostic functions, including real‑time corrective actions. Use network and system management platforms to remotely access and analyze systems, nodes, and devices. Interface with functional users, NOSC support personnel, and management for routine and reactive monitoring; execute reporting and data input for NOSC operations and ticket management. Maintain inventory in conjunction with the Desktop Services Section, ensuring adequate maintenance coverage. Document data and telecommunication networks, servers, software, and service configurations; update and maintain configuration tables and drawings. Analyze network traffic data, throughput, reliability, and other characteristics related to efficient operation and support of networks and systems. Participate in company emergency response activities as assigned. Basic Qualifications Knowledge Requirements Knowledge of a wide range of communications concepts, principles, and practices, and of communications equipment including IP routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN components, and other sub‑systems. Knowledge of IT principles normally acquired through college‑level courses or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, macOS, communications messaging ports and protocols, computer directory services, and system architecture protocols. Knowledge of trouble‑ticketing systems and performance/trend analysis tools. Knowledge of telecommunications areas such as cryptographic systems, computer security, and access control procedures. Knowledge of automation tools including Python scripting and API use. Skills Requirements Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities. Experience Requirements Three years of practical experience with IT systems and telecommunications hardware, including some experience with network installation, administration, and troubleshooting.
