Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to patients including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and attending to daily patient care needs. Participate in the assessment and evaluation of patient health, updating patient records and communicating status changes. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to implement therapeutic plans and monitor progress. Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention in the unique context of a correctional facility. Ensure adherence to all relevant nursing care standards and safety regulations. Qualifications Proficiency in administering medications and handling medical equipment. Strong observational skills to detect health issues and monitor treatment effects. Ability to communicate effectively with a varied demographic including patients, medical staff, and correctional authorities. Critical thinking and problem‑solving in high‑pressure environments. Empathy and interpersonal skills, especially in a correctional healthcare setting. Current LPN license valid in the state of employment. CPR certification required. Additional certification in correctional healthcare (such as CCHP) is highly regarded but not mandatory.
