Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Equipment & Fleet Maintenance

Location: Le Mars, Iowa Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $25–$45 per hour, depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered trucks, fleet vehicles, and heavy equipment for a waste and recycling operation in Le Mars, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, and fleet equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair brakes, suspension, engines, transmissions, and related components.
• Maintain equipment reliability and minimize operational downtime.
• Document repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintenance standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Truck Technician, Fleet Mechanic, or similar role.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and shop tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications or a CDL are a plus but not required.
