Optical TechnicianIllinois College of OptometryLevel: Non-ExemptSalary/Rate: $23 per hourReporting Relationship: Reports to the Coordinator of the Eyewear CenterEssential Job Functions:Provides patient support and assistance in the Eyewear CenterUses comprehensive knowledge of lens, options, and frame properties to fit patients with prescribed RxExplains Insurance plans and coverage to patientsUnderstands all major Vision plansDispenses eyewear to patientsRepairs, adjusts, and augments patient optical frames and lensesProvides direction and instruction for ICO optometry studentsManages Eyewear Center reception desk when neededAssists with primary immediate operations in Eyewear CenterProvides support and problem-solving for all internal customers and patientsAssures eyewear order quality controlProvides the immediate supervisor with relevant and timely feedback regarding data and material issuesSubmits to regular review of skill advancement, including Opticianry, posting, and Vision insurance plansMust acquire mastery of IEI practice management software and insurance plan coverageMust meet EWC sales goalsMarginal Functions:Other job-related duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager for the EWC or SR. Director of IEI AdministrationRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Highly skilled, experienced professional optician.Minimum 2 Years of healthcare/Optician experienceProfessional and friendly communication with all staff and vendorsRequires a strong commitment to the accuracy of patient dataRequires the ability to handle a variety of tasks with speed, attention to detail, and accuracyAbility to thrive in a team-driven environmentHigh school diplomaPractice management data entry software experienceDemonstrated data/ software and technology skillsProficient user of Windows programsHighly efficient multi-taskerSkilled communicatorMaturity in judgment and demeanorProfessional ethicsAbility to meet deadlines regardless of circumstances or pressuresAttendance must be in accordance with College PolicyThe Illinois College of Optometry and the Illinois Eye Institute has no contract or implied contract with its employees concerning the terms and conditions of employment.
