This role advances DevSecOps and platform engineering initiatives by driving automation, improving developer productivity, strengthening observability, and introducing AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery. The engineer collaborates closely with software, systems, infrastructure, and IT teams to streamline development workflows, integrate engineering tools, and build scalable automation solutions that create a more connected and efficient engineering ecosystem. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving developer experiences, and building solutions that directly impact engineering efficiency and product delivery.
Responsibilities- Design and implement integrations across development, testing, infrastructure, monitoring, and engineering systems to create seamless end-to-end workflows.
- Automate repetitive workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability across multiple engineering teams and projects.
- Partner with engineering teams to identify productivity barriers and implement solutions that remove friction from development and delivery processes.
- Develop reusable tools, processes, and frameworks that can be leveraged across multiple projects to standardize and accelerate engineering practices.
- Troubleshoot complex issues that span software, infrastructure, networking, and development environments, providing robust and sustainable solutions.
- Establish monitoring, metrics, logging, and observability strategies to measure system health, platform reliability, and engineering performance.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-powered development and automation tools, to enhance engineering capabilities and reduce manual effort.
- Create training materials, documentation, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to promote tool adoption, best practices, and continuous learning within engineering teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data, operational metrics, and user feedback to refine tools, workflows, and platform capabilities.
- Support secure software development practices and compliance-focused engineering activities, aligning with industry and program security requirements.
- Integrate and optimize DevOps and DevSecOps tools to support CI/CD pipelines, source control, containerization, infrastructure automation, and system integration.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong software development and automation skills with a focus on building scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD practices and tooling, source control systems, containers, infrastructure, and system integration.
- Strong scripting and programming ability in Python, PowerShell, Bash, C#, or similar languages used for automation and tooling.
- Experience integrating systems through APIs, automation frameworks, plugins, or custom tooling to connect diverse engineering platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a systems-level understanding of how software, infrastructure, and development workflows interact.
- Experience with monitoring, metrics, logging, and observability solutions to support reliable operations and performance insights.
- Experience with SQL, databases, and information processing to support data-driven engineering and automation initiatives.
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes and container orchestration in modern application and platform environments.
- Experience in C for embedded Linux, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and bare metal environments supporting advanced hardware and embedded systems.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies for provisioning and managing infrastructure.
- Experience designing CI/CD platforms and reusable pipeline frameworks, particularly with Jenkins or comparable tools.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, as well as hybrid and on-premises environments.
- Experience evaluating and implementing AI-assisted development, AI agents, or large language modelbased automation in engineering workflows.
- Experience with CMMC-related security checks and compliance-focused engineering activities.
- Interest in or prior exposure to defense, aerospace, embedded systems, and advanced technology programs.
- Motivation to grow into platform engineering, DevSecOps leadership, or broader engineering enablement roles.
This role supports mission-driven work that contributes to technologies used in critical defense, aerospace, and national security applications, with products that have real-world impact and high visibility. You will work with cutting-edge technology, including modern DevSecOps and platform engineering practices, AI-assisted development tools, cloud platforms, embedded systems, and secure software environments. The position offers significant ownership and autonomy to drive process improvements, introduce new technologies, and directly improve the productivity of large engineering organizations. You will collaborate with experienced software, systems, hardware, and infrastructure engineers, gaining exposure to both traditional software development and highly specialized engineering environments. The environment emphasizes long-term programs with extended development lifecycles and sustained investment in technology and engineering talent, providing strong stability and ongoing demand for expertise in security, automation, and systems integration. The role also offers the opportunity to develop deep skills in defense, aerospace, embedded systems, cloud computing, DevSecOps, and AI-driven engineering practices, and to build a career within high-impact, security-focused engineering domains.
