Senior Director of Operations

Senior Director of Operations This is a newly created senior leadership role, designed to serve as a trusted operational partner to Head of School and to provide the organizational infrastructure to allow Miriam to grow with confidence. Miriam has strong momentum, dedicated leadership, and a clear strategic direction. What it needs now is an experienced, systems-minded operations leader who can bring structure, accountability, and long-range thinking to the full operational enterprise. The Senior Director of Operations will be a visible, collaborative presence across the organization, a credible voice with board members and community partners, and a key contributor to Miriam’s continued growth and sustainability. Reporting Relationship and Team The Senior Director of Operations reports directly to the Head of School and serves as a key member of Miriam’s senior leadership team. Anticipated direct reports include the Director of Finance and Administration, a Facilities Manager, the Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Admissions and Enrollment. Areas of Responsibility The Senior Director of Operations provides oversight across finance and administration, facilities, human resources, information technology, enrollment, and insurance and contracts, and serves as a key leadership presence across the full organization. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in a complex organization with a record of managing multi-functional operations. Financial literacy, facilities management experience, and comfort with senior-level decision‑making are essential. So is a collaborative leadership style and an appreciation of Miriam’s mission of serving students with unique learning needs. This role requires someone who will walk through the door each morning ready to engage with people, build trust across a diverse staff and board, and roll up their sleeves when needed. Specific qualifications include: Significant experience in a complex nonprofit, educational, or mission‑driven organization Strong financial literacy and comfort with budget oversight, financial reporting, and strategic financial decision‑making Experience managing facilities and capital projects, including vendor and contractor relationships Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with a wide range of stakeholders including board members, educators, families, and community partners Experience working in an independent school or educational setting is a plus but not required Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, education administration, or a related field preferred Compensation and Benefits The anticipated salary range for this role is $115,000 to $130,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and long‑term disability insurance, paid time off, bereavement leave, and a retirement contribution. About Miriam School and Learning Center For more than 100 years, Miriam School and Learning Center has provided an excellent education for unique learners in the St. Louis area. Miriam empowers students with learning differences by building confidence and a foundation for lifelong success through its K‑12 private school and its Learning Center outreach programs. Today, Miriam serves more than 1,200 students and families each year. Miriam students often face specific learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, speech and language disorders, anxiety, and sensory processing differences. Miriam helps children transform those challenges into gifts, helping students and their families recognize and build on the strengths in their differences. Miriam operates two campuses and serves students from across the greater St. Louis region. The K‑12 school program supports children with learning, speech/language, sensory/motor, and attention challenges through a team‑based approach, integrated therapies, small class sizes, and specialized instruction. At the high school level, services also include preparation for the transition to college, vocational training, employment, or other post‑secondary programs. The Learning Center serves children ages 2–25 each year, drawing students from more than 120 private, public, parochial, and home schools who turn to Miriam for specialized support services. #J-18808-Ljbffr
