Manufacturing Applications and Controls Engineer (Onsite)

Pratt & Whitney Digital Technology is seeking a Manufacturing Applications and Controls Engineer to work onsite at its East Hartford, Connecticut plant. The role supports the manufacturing shop floor with cutting‑edge aerospace technologies and requires a U.S. citizen who can pass a background check. Responsibilities Develop custom business applications to collect, analyze, and report operational data critical to plant performance. Monitor application performance and troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues as needed. Enhance and modify existing applications to support new compliance requirements and evolving business needs. Modernize legacy applications by converting them to current technologies (e.g., Visual Basic to VB.NET). Design and develop HMI/SCADA interfaces for shop floor machine tools. Troubleshoot PLC control systems. Qualifications Advanced degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years; or associate’s degree and 10+ years of project management experience; or 12+ years of relevant experience without a degree. Experience with machine tool control networking and/or DNC applications. Experience in a manufacturing environment with a solid understanding of manufacturing principles. Basic understanding of Ethernet networks and port forwarding. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; able to work effectively in a team. Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and able to manage priorities independently. U.S. citizenship required; must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to work onsite at the designated location in East Hartford, CT. Preferred Qualifications Experience with the Ignition platform by Inductive Automation. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including VBA. Experience with programming languages such as .NET, Java, or Python. Experience extracting and manipulating data from Oracle and SQL Server databases. Experience with Proficy iFIX programming / troubleshooting. Exposure to PLC programming.
