As we grow, we’re investing in the people, systems, financial controls, and leadership needed to build a strong and scalable organization. We’re looking for an experienced Controller to join our leadership team and help build the financial foundation for BAKEY’s continued growth. The Opportunity This is not a traditional back-office Controller role. We’re looking for a hands‑on financial leader and Finance Business Partner who understands that numbers need to drive action. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of BAKEY’s financial reporting while partnering closely with Operations and store leadership to improve financial performance. You should be equally comfortable closing the books, managing cash flow, building budgets and forecasts, analyzing store‑level P&Ls, and working directly with District Managers and General Managers to help them understand food cost, labor cost, budgets, and overall store performance. You’ll also have the opportunity to help build the financial systems, controls, reporting, and processes BAKEY needs as we expand into additional locations and markets. What You’ll Do Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and prepare accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely account reconciliations. Oversee AP, AR, cash management, deposits, and balance sheet accounts. Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and rolling cash flow projections. Ensure consistent financial reporting across locations and entities. Partner with Operations and store managers to review store‑level financial performance. Analyze sales, food cost, labor, waste, controllable expenses, occupancy, and EBITDA. Prepare actual vs. budget, forecast, and prior‑year variance analysis by location. Build clear reports, dashboards, and scorecards that turn financial information into operational action. Serve as a key financial partner to the CEO on strategic and operational decisions. Develop scenario models and pro‑forma P&Ls for new locations and investments. Support new-store development, construction budgets, capital planning, and pre‑opening expenses. Provide financial support for leases, vendor agreements, financing decisions, and other major commitments. Oversee inventory and food‑cost reconciliation. Reconcile POS, catering, third‑party delivery, gift cards, deposits, and other revenue streams. Review vendor costs and payment terms and identify potential savings opportunities. Manage multi‑state sales tax, payroll tax, tips reporting, and related compliance. Build and maintain strong internal controls around cash, purchasing, inventory, payroll, expenses, and vendor payments. Coordinate tax preparation and compliance with external CPAs and advisors. Improve accounting systems and processes and help integrate POS, payroll, inventory, banking, and accounting systems. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience. Strong hands‑on experience with month‑end close, GL accounting, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. Restaurant, food service, hospitality, or multi‑unit retail experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of restaurant economics, including food cost, labor, controllables, occupancy, and EBITDA. Experience working with multiple locations and/or entities. Experience with multi‑state payroll, sales tax, and compliance. Strong Excel and financial systems skills. Ability to analyze financial information and translate it into clear recommendations. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non‑finance leaders. Restaurant POS experience is a plus. Experience supporting new‑store openings or expansion is a plus.
