Emergency Veterinarian Position

Thrive San Antonio is looking for a full-time Emergency Veterinarian with 3-5 years' experience, to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

You'll deliver exceptional, real-time care when pets and their families need it most. Our progressive compensation model is designed to reward your impact, offering a competitive base salary alongside production opportunitieswith no negative accrual.

You'll provide emergency care for sick and injured patients while also managing hospitalized cases. You'll assess and diagnose patients, develop and oversee treatment plans, and partner closely with technicians to ensure high-quality execution of care. Your work will include performing surgeries, delivering critical care, and maintaining an exceptional standard of service for every patient who enters our emergency department.

Thrive San Antonio is a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital with a 30-year history in the community. We are the second ER facility to obtain Fear-free certification in the Country. The hospital is equipped with complete blood work capabilities, digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, hemoperfusion, ventilator, and linear accelerator. We currently have specialty services including critical care, internal medicine, neurology, surgery and radiation oncology with diagnostic imaging starting in Fall of 2026. We have an established staff with low turnover in our DVM population. Our teams enjoy mentorship with new graduates and have provided an emergency veterinary internship for over 10 years.

We are open 24/7 serving the Greater San Antonio and surrounding communities.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an annual PROSAL full-time range starting at $ 180 K/year. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Your Experience & Skills

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required
• State Veterinary Board License:
  • Active and in good standing for the state of intended employment
  • Obtained prior to start date
• Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible
• Experience in emergency medicine or completion of small animal rotating or emergency internships is highly recommended
