Maintenance

The School Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of school facilities. This role includes performing routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep to create a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

Essential Functions (Other duties, as assigned)

• Conduct routine inspections of school buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
• Perform general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting as needed.
• Ensure proper operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Maintain school grounds, including landscaping, snow removal, and general upkeep.
• Respond to maintenance requests from teachers, staff, and administrators in a timely manner.
• Ensure all safety regulations and building codes are met.
• Oversee and coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
• Monitor and replenish maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for school events.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any major issues to management.
• Available to fill in as needed during staff absences.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good physical condition with the ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Availability for emergency repairs outside of regular hours as needed.
• Criminal background check without relevant findings
• Such alternatives to the above-listed qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools or designee and Board of School Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

The performance of this job is evaluated per provisions of the Board of School Trustees' policy on the Evaluation of Personnel. The Director of Operations, or designee, will evaluate this position.
