Project Accountant

Atlanta, GA

A highly established Atlanta-area commercial general contractor is seeking a Project Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will support multiple construction projects and work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Accounts Receivable

• Prepare and submit owner billings and invoices
• Assist with AIA billing, lien waivers, sworn statements, and supporting documentation
• Track billing status and help ensure deadlines are met
• Assist with outstanding receivables and collections as needed

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

• Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices
• Verify coding and route invoices for approval
• Maintain required subcontractor documentation including COIs, W-9s, and lien waivers
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding invoice and payment questions

Project Accounting & Documentation

• Maintain organized project accounting files and documentation
• Assist with audit requests and project closeout
• Support final billing and financial documentation
• Help ensure project files remain accurate and compliant

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Project Managers and the accounting team
• Respond to project-related financial questions
• Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
• Support accounting processes across multiple active projects

Qualifications

• Accounting, Finance, Business, or related education or experience
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong communication and follow-through
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Construction accounting, AP, AR, billing, or project accounting experience is helpful, but not required
