Vice President / General CounselElectro Rent is seeking an experienced and strategic legal executive to serve as Vice President / General Counsel. This individual will lead the Legal function for the Americas, providing expert legal counsel and managing all aspects of legal operations, including contracts, governance, compliance, intellectual property, and litigation. The ideal candidate is a proactive legal leader with demonstrated in-house experience, global team management capability, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. This role is critical to mitigating legal risk while supporting the company's commercial objectives.This role is based in Southern California and will commute to our headquarters location in West Hills. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential duty of this role.ResponsibilitiesContract/Transactional MattersPrepare, review, negotiate, and interpret contracts (including service agreements, consulting agreements, vendor agreements, and NDA's), and suggest potential solutions ensuring business needs and priorities are met while minimizing risksOrganize, manage, and maintain contract library (both electronic and paper-based files) to include contract templates and forms, and commonly used RFP/RFQ responses, and other reference materials to streamline contract processesCommercial SupportCommunicate effectively and professionally with team members at all levels (including management and executive leadership)Resolve routine legal and contract issues.Conduct Secretary of State searches, perform legal research, and analyze law sources such as statutes, case law, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, etc.Corporate Governance & AdministrationMaintain and update all legal filesAssist in fulfilling corporate secretarial duties, including maintaining corporate minute books and other business records, preparing in compilation of board and committee materials, and coordinate approvals and signatures of documentsLitigation Management & SupportCoordinate, gather, and organize facts and documents for discovery responses or administrative actions, which will involve working with internal business clients and outside legal counselMonitor and track all case deadlinesFile and retrieve documents on state and federal court databasesManage subpoena responsesHelp prepare legal pleadingsIntellectual PropertyAssist the Marketing department in copyright and trademark reviewManage and track intellectual property registrationsAssist outside counsel in gathering required samples and informationRegulatory/Compliance SupportAssist with compliance procedures (Privacy/GDPR/PCI/FCPA)Maintain compliance logs and manage related tasksReceive and process all Legal Department correspondenceQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school.Active license to practice law in the State of California.Minimum 7 years of legal experience, including in-house or law firm roles.Demonstrated experience managing global legal, compliance, and HR functions.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Must meet the definition of a "U.S. Person" per 22 CFR § 120.15 (i.e., U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to regulatory access requirements.*Compensation salary range for this position will be approximately between $250,000 and $310,000 per year plus quarterly bonus based on company revenue.
