Take on a rewarding role supporting students in an elementary school setting as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity is based onsite, offering full-time hours from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027, at Troutman Elementary. Work 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 2:30pm.

Bring your specialized interpreting skills to a collaborative environment dedicated to empowering young learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Qualifications:

• Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or possession of RID certification (EIPA not required if RID certified)
• Prior experience in an educational setting preferred
• Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication abilities
• Ability to arrive prior to the student’s scheduled arrival and be fully prepared each day
• Committed to onsite-only service (no remote or virtual interpreting for this position)

Role responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and fluent sign language interpretation for a designated elementary student
• Facilitate effective communication between student, staff, and peers in the classroom and other school environments
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure accessible participation in all activities
• Remain consistently present and ready to support the student at the beginning of each day
• Uphold the highest ethical and confidentiality standards
