Personal Care Worker and Homemaker

Location: Arvada, CO

Hours: 40.25 hours per week

Position Overview

Authentic Home Care, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Personal Care Worker and Homemaker to provide in-home support to a female client in Arvada.

Client Care Needs

The client has a feeding tube in addition to assistance with the following services:

• Showering and personal care
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Running errands
• Light housekeeping
• Laundry

Important: The caregiver must be comfortable working in a home with dogs .

Job Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services as needed.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding while following dietary needs and preferences.
• Provide care according to the client’s individualized plan of care and required training.
• Monitor and document the client’s health and well-being and report changes to the appropriate personnel.
• Provide companionship and engage the client in conversation to promote emotional well-being.
• Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques to promote a positive and supportive environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment, in area like bedroom, living room, and kitchen.
• Run errands as needed.
• Follow agency policies and procedures and applicable regulations related to direct care in the client’s home.
• Follow privacy, health, safety, universal precautions, and infection-control requirements.
• Understand and fulfill the responsibilities of a Mandated Reporter and complete required annual training.
• Use the agency’s electronic verification system to follow the individualized plan of care and accurately clock in and out.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• One year of experience in a healthcare environment or equivalent experience preferred.
• Compassionate nature and a strong desire to help others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Reliable, respectful, and empathetic when working with clients.
• Ability to follow a predetermined schedule based on client needs.
• Background check and references required.
• Must be able and willing to travel to the client’s home.
• Current and valid driver’s license preferred, along with regular access to a reliable motor vehicle.
• Must be able to access the client’s home, which may not be routinely wheelchair accessible.
• Must be comfortable working in a home with dogs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and transfer the client when needed.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Good physical stamina to perform duties throughout the workday.
