Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – New Jersey

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday). Holiday requirement of 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs. Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period.

Highlights:

• Work in a 628-bed academic medical center with a 37-bed Level IV NICU including a Special Care Nursery
• Patient ratios: 1:2 in NICU, 1:3-4 in Special Care Nursery
• EPIC charting system required; extensive experience with developmental care, respiratory management, and complex neonatal interventions
• Care for neonates 29-34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks gestation requiring advanced respiratory support, high-frequency ventilation, and complex medical interventions
• First-time travelers and local candidates welcomed at the same rate
• Float within skillset to Newborn, Pediatrics, and PICU for appropriate assignments

Requirements:

• Active New Jersey or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of current Level III NICU experience (Level IV experience preferred)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Proficiency in developmental care, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, and sepsis workup
• Experience with administration of blood products, A-line management, central/implanted line care, IV starts and maintenance, UAC/UVC
• Knowledge of anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, neonatal dose calculations, steroids, surfactants, and insulin
• Competency in breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, NEC, and oral/NG/NJ tube placement
• Strong respiratory skills including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, meconium aspiration, oxygen delivery systems, RDS, ETT/NT suctioning, Vapotherm, and ventilator management
• Preferred skills: Charge experience, jet vents, oscillators, ECMO, UAC, CritiCool body cooling, and neonatal transport
• Must be willing to float within skillset without exception
• Former employees must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
