Valor - DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

A Direct Support Professional is responsible for resident supervision, de-escalation, medication monitoring, assists residents with daily needs and accompanies residents on appointments and outings. The Direct Support Professional also assists with daily cleaning around the facility such as laundry, cleaning of communal areas, keeping the front desk clear of debris and clutter, sweeping, and mopping of lobby, vacuuming hallways and carpeted areas. The Direct Support Professional will conduct security audits including room checks, pat downs and urinalysis.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Responsible for the supervision of residents.
• Assists in accompanying residents with special needs, physical handicaps, and high acuity mental illness to and from scheduled appointments and outings.Assists residents with boarding and exiting vehicles. Securing residents in seats.
• Adheres to policies and procedures in maintaining appropriate resident behavior. Utilizes appropriate de-escalation methods when appropriate. 
• Completes housekeeping tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, sanitizing, taking out garbage, and keeping common areas free of clutter and debris. 
• Serves meals to residents.
• Stocks supplies i.e. paper towels, cleaning supplies.
• Monitors client medication pass components. 
• Conducts client pat-downs, room searches and urinalysis testing. 
• Ensure timely and accurate client documentation.
• Promotes and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Embrave.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies and community partners.
• Embraces cultural diversity amongst ourselves and our community.
• Responsible for the human, financial, and material resources as well as data and information entrusted to us.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education and Qualifications 

High School diploma or equivalent

QMAP-certified OR expected to take part in QMAP training within 90 days of hire and to successfully pass QMAP certification
