LPN Float Nurse

Primary Purpose Travel/Float Nurse (LPN or RN) PT Morning and Night Shifts with Monthly Weekend Rotation, under the supervision and guidance of the Regional Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing (DON) and the Executive Director (ED) of the Community. The Travel Nurse assists the DON and ED in the day-to-day operation of residence support services and supervises the health care provided within the residence. The Travel Nurse must remain on site during their shift, notifying the RDON, DON, and ED in case of a personal emergency, and must not leave the premises until properly relieved. Additional duties may be assigned by the RDON, DON, and ED. Qualifications/Skills Needed Education Graduate of a state‑accredited nursing school. Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state where services are performed. License must be in good standing, active, and without restriction. Must have a current CPR certificate. Experience Prefer experience with the elderly in a nursing home, assisted living, or residential setting. Language Skills Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and effectively communicate and follow both written and oral instructions. Must adhere to and comply with all verbal and written policies and instructions set forth by the Morning Pointe Community. Medication: Duties include, but are not limited to: Store and manage resident medications (including narcotics) in compliance with state and federal regulations and Morning Pointe’s medication policies. Dispose of medications in compliance with state and federal regulations and Morning Pointe’s Medication Disposal policy. Assist residents with taking medications in compliance with state and federal regulations, resident physician orders, and Morning Pointe’s medication policies. Residents Manage the health care of all residents, including providing information to families and staff in the absence of the DON and ED. Perform ongoing assessments of residents’ physical and psychosocial needs and advise the DON and ED of changes in status. Observe and record significant condition changes and reactions, notifying the DON and ED, especially regarding drug treatments and other incidents. Explain procedures and treatments to residents to gain cooperation and understanding, thereby relieving apprehension. Respond to life‑saving situations based on current standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. Follow and adhere to the Nursing Practices Act as set forth by the state in which licensed. Supervisory Responsibilities The Travel Nurse coordinates the health care needs of residents during their shift and provides direct supervision of Resident Services Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. The Travel Nurse keeps the DON and ED informed of significant changes in residents, staff, and facility. Physical Demands This position is classified as HEAVY, requiring the exertion of 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly to lift or move objects. Functional requirements include constant standing and walking, frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning, and stretching. Finger and hand dexterity, visual and hearing acuity, and the ability to understand and execute written and oral instructions are essential. Basic mathematical computations are required.
