Job Description

The Custodian is responsibile for keeping assigned areas clean, safe and sanitizes and other duties as assigned by the Facilities director. The custodian should strive to maintain a clean, safe and attractive facility throght the assigned shift. The custodian should perfrom all tasks requsted by the Facilities Diector or through Facility Dude in a timely manner.

Qualifications

1. Six months or more of related experience preferred.


2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.


3. Ability to report and record maintenance requests through Facility Dude .


4. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.


5. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.


6. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Essential Functions

1. Ensures Y is attractive, safe and clean by completing all assigned duties and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Duties will include but not limited to wet and dry mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling storage and removal, window washing, stripping and waxing of floors, carpet cleaning, hard floor scrubbing, light painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.


2. Operates and maintain motorized and non-motorized equipment.


3. Records and reports all needed repair to facilities director through Fcility Dude work order system.


4. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to Facilities Director.


5. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies as needed.


6. Setup rooms for special events and program events.


7. Assit fellow staff members and team members when needed or requested.
