The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. What You’ll Do A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities. Key Responsibilities Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, assist with feeding. Transport and attends activities or programs with residents Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas Applies safety & infection control measures Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes Assist nursing personnel with admissions, discharge, & transfer of residents Why Work for the State of Ohio At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans. Qualifications Positions at Veteran Services in addition to above must possess STNA certification &/or listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry. For positions that require operation of motor vehicle to transport consumers to recreational, educational &/or occupational activities, a valid driver’s license is required. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Job Skills: Direct Support/Direct Care Supplemental Information In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Unless otherwise required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases after completing probation and following successful annual performance evaluations. The final applicant selected for this position may be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year (not applicable to current state employees). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal records check as required by Section 3721.121 of the Ohio Revised Code.
