Licensed Practical Nurse - IDEA Lopez (Immediate Opening)

Role Mission Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) responsible for providing health services to students, conducting state‑mandated screenings, maintaining 100% immunization compliance, and maintaining accurate files. The LPN leads the campus clinic independently, serving a campus with up to 1,600 students, and promotes health education and preventative practices. All clinic staff report directly to the campus Assistant Principal of Operations (APO). All medical and compliance for the district is directed to the Director of Health and Wellness. LPNs placed in the Academy, primarily serving K‑5 students, with care offered to K‑12 students. What We Offer Hourly compensation ranging from $23.92 to $29.91, with a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. What You Bring – Competencies Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR. Knowledge of diabetic care management. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient keyboarding and electronic file maintenance skills. Ability to use laptop and software to develop databases and word processing. Ability to track, enter, analyze, and monitor data. Effective verbal and written communication. Time‑management and prioritization skills. Qualifications High School diploma or GED (required). LVN or LPN licensure (required). Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid (required). Certified by state department of health services to conduct vision, hearing, spinal, and AN screenings (preferred). 2+ years experience in a health‑related position (required). Experience with school‑age children (preferred). Experience maintaining electronic health records (preferred). What You’ll Do – Accountabilities Health Services Provide direct care using triage, basic care, and established school health protocols. Manage campus clinic independently for up to 1,600 students. Serve as a health advocate for students. Notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care for students in emergencies. Coordinate medication administration system at school. Establish and implement procedures for mandatory screening programs; make referrals as necessary. Ensure students are compliant with state immunization requirements. Consultation Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community. Assess student problems and make referrals working with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals. Participate in health‑related school committees focused on student health and wellness. Collaborate on implementation of health‑related IEP items. Recognize and report suspected child abuse. Make home visits to help with student health problems as necessary with principal permission. Communicate regularly with APO, regional RN, school counselor, teachers, parents, food services staff, and other staff regarding health services issues. Administration Collect, review, and enter immunization records; ensure compliance with state requirements. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and documents required. Request supplies and equipment needed for clinic inventory. Comply with federal, state, and district policies in health services. Report potential health and safety hazards to APO. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
