Job Description The CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment, assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required, and follows the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or, for Electrophysiology, the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. The CV Invasive Specialist II (CVIS II) performs duties necessary for catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring minimal supervision of technical detail. The CVIS II performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required, and follows the ACVP scope of practice or, for Electrophysiology, the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. A Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) is required to pass medications. We offer up to $15,000 sign‑on bonus and up to $5,000 relocation assistance, if applicable. As a CV Invasive Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care. We value career advancement, innovation and collaboration, and your contributions make a lasting impact. Essential Functions Participate in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around. Develop specific knowledge of invasive, diagnostic and interventional supplies, including inventory control and proper use and deployment techniques. Document hemodynamic recordings, calculations and interpretations. Provide patient education and emotional support for patients and their families; ensure patient comfort and foster teamwork with team members and physicians. Develop knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies and treatment options. Assess the condition of the patient, document, and inform the physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure. Understand and apply principles of X‑ray generation and safety; demonstrate correct operation of imaging equipment. May mix and administer medications under the direction and supervision of the physician (RCIS or RCES required to pass medications). Pursuant to state laws. At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis. Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events. Develop skills in operating, calibrating and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Perform point‑of‑care testing and QA. Scrub, circulate and monitor in diagnostic, interventional and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents; complete procedure data entry; acquire and process imaging studies, hemodynamic assessment, calculations, intra‑procedure CathPCI registry requirements and prepare procedural reports. PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adults; new employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Bachelor’s degree in health science with six months of health‑care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech). OR graduate of a Radiologic, Cardiovascular, Respiratory Therapy or Nursing program. OR graduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health‑care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical tech, RN/LPN). OR graduate of a non‑programmatic accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology with at least one year of specialty training and a minimum of 800 clinical hours; education must be from an accredited institution and will be verified. Intermediate computer skills. Current license, where applicable. And‑ Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements. Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in Colorado. Preferred Qualifications I 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience. Minimum Qualifications CV Invasive Specialist II Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adults; new employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Beginning March 1, 2026, must be registered as RCIS or RCES or ARRT‑CI or ARRT‑VI or RN (previous relevant RN experience required). Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency with years of experience in electrophysiology procedures. Maintains at least 12 hours of CME credits per year. Demonstrates clinical competence of CVIS/CVES skills evidenced by skill sign‑off. Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements. Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in Colorado. Preferred Qualifications II Bachelor’s degree in health science program; education must be from an accredited institution and verified. OR graduate of an accredited Radiologic, Cardiovascular or Respiratory Therapy program. One year of invasive cardiovascular technology or electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training). Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication with patient care providers, patients and visitors, requiring rapid and accurate hearing and understanding of spoken information, alarms and needs during emergencies. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift and carry supplies and equipment, often heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and supplying equipment; push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, often heavy, within crowded busy rooms. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle, requiring sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals and other vehicles. Location: Platte Valley Hospital, Brighton, Colorado. Hourly range: $39.16 – $60.42, based on experience.
