What You’ll Do – and Love

As the Groundskeeper/ Property Manager , you will take ownership of assigned properties to ensure vibrant, healthy, and beautifully maintained landscape beds across residential, commercial, and municipal sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you set the standard through your work, manage property outcomes, and help guide team success through collaboration on the job.

You will:

• Take ownership of assigned properties — ensuring all bed care work meets VHC quality standards
• Lead a small crew in the field each day — setting direction, pacing the work, and working alongside your team
• Lead by example — performing weeding, edging, pruning, mulching, seasonal color care, and ornamental maintenance
• Plan and organize daily routes, materials, and workflow to maximize efficiency
• Provide real-time coaching and guidance to crew members on proper techniques and safety practices
• Ensure jobs are completed on time and to standard through active involvement and quality checks
• Communicate with managers and peers to align schedules, report progress, and address challenges
• Build positive working relationships with clients through consistent, high-quality results
• Serve as a cultural ambassador for The VHC Way — modeling accountability, positivity, and teamwork
• Support snow operations in the off-season as part of our all-hands-on-deck winter model

• After 6 months, you will have:
• Full ownership and understanding of your assigned properties and service expectations
• Established efficient daily and weekly workflows that drive consistency and quality
• Built strong working relationships with crews, managers, and clients
• Demonstrated reliability in delivering high-quality results with minimal oversight
• Earned trust as someone who takes initiative, solves problems, and gets the job done right
• Received positive feedback on property appearance, quality, and professionalism

Must-Haves

• 3 years of landscape maintenance or horticultural experience
• Strong knowledge of plant health, seasonal bed care, and weed identification
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Comfortable using mobile devices for scheduling and communication
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, kneel, bend, and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Nice-to-Haves

• Coursework or degree in horticulture or related field
• Experience managing routes or maintaining multiple properties
• Ability to read site maps or planting designs
• CDL license or willingness to obtain one
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
