Mechanical Foreman

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for guiding and directing mechanical maintenance technicians on daily activities, interfacing with outside contractors on equipment repairs and request for information resolution, communicating effectively with internal customers and outside service providers/suppliers, providing maintenance services to internal customers, executing site preventative maintenance activities, and supporting capital construction and commissioning activities. Responsibilities Supervise mechanics Purchase material Estimate small projects Complete work orders Plan, execute and record periodic maintenance and repair on terminal mechanical equipment in the computerized maintenance program Monitor and ensure preventive maintenance (PM) schedule compliance Assign daily job duties to mechanical technicians Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on terminal equipment Assist with interface to CAPEX projects as needed Evaluate mechanical technician performance to ensure safe and quality work Assist the Operations and Drumming departments as required Coordinate with other maintenance technicians and other departments Participate in the terminal emergency response organization and wear SCBA and other chemical PPE Wear appropriate PPE for required tasks and safely perform job duties Provide after‑hours and weekend support on a routine call rotation and occasionally as job duties demand Drive a company vehicle Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent vocational training in mechanics Basic knowledge of pumps, air compressors, dryers, and vehicle and equipment repair 10 or more years of experience as a craftsman in an industrial maintenance setting 10 or more years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance setting, preferably chemical manufacturing and/or chemical logistics terminal At least five years of experience in mechanical maintenance or construction related activities in an industrial setting (may be waived by IMTT based on education or other occupational experience) General experience in an industrial chemical manufacturing/handling maintenance setting Valid driver’s license TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations Skills and Abilities Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to understand written and verbal communication in English Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and willingness to help Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner Ability to manage numerous projects in frequently changing work environment Compliance with all company policies and procedures Ability to interact with vendors, service providers, and employees in a professional and courteous manner Good organizational skills and attention to detail Supervisory and management skills Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment Teamwork, responsibility, trustworthiness, problem solving, leadership, self‑directed work Excellent verbal, written, math, and organizational skills Computer literate – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Hours of Work Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm. This is a non‑exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All hours worked must be accurately recorded, and overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy. Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice. Physical and Environmental Demand The job operates in a professional office environment and an industrial maintenance shop and outdoor environment. Temperatures routinely reach 95–100°F in summer. The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require good physical fitness, including the ability to walk through uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders. Because the facility handles hazardous materials, the labor force must be able to evacuate quickly from any location without assistance in an emergency. The job requires strenuous activities and heavy lifting in an outdoor environment. Incumbent must walk rough terrain, climb stairs and ladders on 80‑foot‑high tanks and lift 50pounds on a routine basis.
