Position Summary

John W. McDougall Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety Representative to oversee safety operations for an ACM panel installation project in Fayetteville, Georgia. This position is responsible for assuring compliance with OSHA regulations, project-specific safety requirements, and company safety policies while promoting an active safety culture throughout the duration of the project.

A successful candidate will have extensive experience working in high-risk construction environments, particularly involving work at heights, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), scaffolding, and suspended scaffolding (swing stages). This individual will work closely with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and general contractor safety personnel to identify hazards, carry out corrective actions, and ensure every employee returns home safely each day.

  Required Qualifications

• Minimum three (5) years of construction safety experience in commercial or industrial construction.
• Current OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry certification.
• Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credential 
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR Part 1926 Construction Standards.
• Experience supervising safety activities on active construction sites.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with field personnel and project management.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site Safety Representative for all phases of ACM panel installation.
• Achieve compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct daily site inspections for identifying hazards and verify that corrective actions are completed and logged.
• Perform periodic inspections of scaffolding, swing stages, ladders, fall protection systems, and MEWPs.
• Monitor all work involving fall hazards and verify proper use of fall protection equipment.
• Review and approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs).
• Lead daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning meetings.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events,documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Keep accurate safety documentation, inspection reports, and training records.
• Coordinate with project management and the General Contractor's safety team to ensure project compliance.
• Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices when reinforcing a positive safety culture.
• Assist with emergency response planning and incident management.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with OSHA standards and project safety requirements.
