We are a fourth-generation family-owned lumber yard supplying premier building products for residential, commercial and industrial projects. The Yard Associate is responsible for assisting customers with locating products, staging materials for delivery, and using a forklift to load and unload lumber and building materials. Responsibilities: Provide our contractors and residential customers exceptional service. Advise walk-in customers on lumber and building materials and their uses, helping them select the best product to meet their needs. Assist customers with loading and unloading of materials. Unload incoming lumber and building materials deliveries, and ensure items are stocked to their proper locations. Build and stage loads for delivery, ensuring the accuracy of each customer’s order. Occasionally make deliveries or pick-up customer returns using company vehicles. Keep lumber yard clean, well-organized, and safe. Follow safety rules and regulations. Help to maintain equipment, grounds and buildings. Qualifications Knowledge of lumber and building products required Experience in a lumber yard or warehouse environment preferred High school diploma required Ability to operate a forklift preferred Valid OH driver’s license, and clean driving record required Able to work outdoors in all climate conditions Physically demanding job, requires heavy lifting (up to 80 pounds), standing, bending Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends Pre-employment drug test required Goals: Continually expand knowledge of all departments, both in the lumberyard and retail store. Become a versatile employee, able to help in other areas as needed. After enough experience, become a mentor to new employees and help them understand products and procedures.
