Lead Data Scientist

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for extracting insights from large datasets, developing predictive models, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities, solve complex problems, and optimize processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms, and the ability to effectively communicate complex findings to stakeholders. Essential Responsibilities Analyze, build, test, and implement statistical and machine learning models that extract meaningful insights from large datasets Apply mathematical and statistical techniques for spatial and temporal data Develop and implement advanced predictive models Build data visualization, dashboards, and reports for internal and external customers Write and optimize efficient, maintainable code, collaborating with cross-functional teams Skills and Abilities Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on validation and accuracy of results Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and frameworks like PySpark Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to mentor team members and contribute to culture of continuous learning and improvement Experience in developing and optimizing data pipelines and ensuring data quality Qualifications and Experience Required B.S, M.S. or PhD. Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Math, Statistics, or a related field 7+ years of experience in data science 2+ Experience with programming languages such as Python and frameworks such as Pyspark Experience working with large and complex datasets Experience working with databases, such as Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server Track record of writing optimized, scalable code Desirable Background in robotics or related field and understanding of temporal and spatial data concepts Physical Requirements Standard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to: Prolonged sitting Prolonged standing Prolonged computer use Lift up to 50 pounds Remote role based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Remote employees work primarily from home or an alternative work space. Travel requirements - 0% The salary range provided is based on a position located in the state of Michigan. Our salary ranges can vary across different locations in the United States.
