Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on a general observation unit. This role is vital in providing quality patient care, monitoring patients' conditions, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure effective management of patient health.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Monitoring and Assessment:
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
  • Assess patients' overall physical condition and monitor for changes in symptoms or sudden deterioration.
  • Conduct routine physical exams and document observations related to patient health status.
  • Document and report any significant changes in patient conditions to the medical team promptly.
• Basic Patient Care:
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosage and delivery.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Provide comfort measures, including pain management and emotional support.
  • Assist in the collection of patient samples for laboratory testing.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care plans and progress.
  • Coordinate and plan patient care, ensuring timely interventions when necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and care instructions.
  • Update patient records regularly, documenting treatments, interventions, and communications with healthcare providers.
• Emergency Response:
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions that may require urgent care or intervention.
  • Provide initial care and stabilization in the event of emergencies and assist in escalation of care when needed.
  • Follow emergency protocols, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other life-saving techniques.
• Infection Control and Safety:
  • Adhere to infection control policies, ensuring proper hygiene and sanitation in patient care environments.
  • Ensure patient safety by following safety protocols, including fall prevention measures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for both patients and staff.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Record observations, interventions, medications, and communications in the patient's medical chart.
  • Ensure timely completion of documentation that reflects the patient's condition accurately.

Qualifications

• Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state nursing license.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a general medical-surgical unit, observation, or similar nursing field.
• Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong observational skills to identify subtle changes in patient health.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical teams.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in basic nursing tasks, such as administering medications and monitoring vital signs.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to nursing care.

Working Conditions

Shifts may include weekends and holidays as required by staffing needs. The position involves physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, and moving patients, as well as managing emergency situations.
