Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in education from an accredited college or university Valid and Active Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, specific to the grade and subject assigned Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience preferred Demonstrates knowledge in the area of the assignment Possesses a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, service to the district, and the importance and purpose of the education program Proficiency in the use of current technology for individual or group demonstration or communication Must be able to flex and vary hours to accommodate the needs of students, parents, and other teachers Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations Exhibits excellent classroom management skills Demonstrates effective communication skills to provide accurate information to others and to obtain, give, and follow directions Demonstrates ability to provide good judgment, planning, and human relations skills, as well as work under periods of stress due to the level of the position’s responsibility To follow the standard of member conduct as stated in the PA Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators Mandatory Compliance & Clearances (PA Law) - Must possess or successfully obtain the following clearances before the official start date: Act 34: PA State Police Criminal History Record Act 151: PA Child Abuse History Clearance Act 114: FBI Federal Criminal History Background Check (Fingerprinting via IdentoGO) Act 168: Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Releases from all qualifying past employers Completed Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training Essential Functions Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with established procedures. Instruct and monitor students in using learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Provide appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare the classroom for class activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments. Additional Functions Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails. Participate in appropriate professional activities. Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed. Other duties as assigned.
