ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves caring for a diverse patient population in a critical care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with conditions including Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Respiratory Distress, Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib RVR), Diabetes Mellitus (DM), and Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVA).
• Administer blood products and manage patients on BiPAP therapy.
• Handle post-cath patients and monitor for complications related to femoral arterial sheaths.
• Assist with postoperative care for patients following various surgical procedures (vascular, abdominal, GI, etc.).
• Manage multiple intravenous drips including diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitroglycerin, and heparin.
• Implement and monitor treatment plans for both ICU and telemetry patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an ICU or comparable environment.
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS.
• Experience with patient care involving chest tubes, wound vacs, dressing changes, and monitoring femoral arterial sheaths is required.
• Preferred experience with arterial lines, Impella devices, and Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP).

Unit Information

The unit consists of 226 total beds with 11 ICU beds, serving a wide range of patients with both critical and telemetry needs. The unit operates under a strong collaborative model ensuring high standards of patient care.

Schedule

• Shifts: 1900-0730 and 0700-1930.
• Weekend rotation: every other weekend.
• No on-call requirements.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
