Job Summary and Qualifications

1. Position Summary:

The Surgical Technician will be able todemonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary toprovide assistanceduring surgical procedures performed in the department. The Surgery Technician is experienced in all aspects of aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure. He/she is knowledgeableregardinginstrumentation,equipmentand supply needs for all types of surgical procedures. The Surgery Technician performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery. 

1. Position Requirements 

1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current BLS Certificationthrough AHAor ARC,Registration as a Surgical Tech by Colorado Division of Regulatory Agencies(DORA)

1. Education:

Graduation from an accredited program for Operating Room Technicians. 

1. Experience:

One yearof experience as a Surgery Technicianor Certified Surgical Technician.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Advanced knowledge in the scrub role and responsibilities formultiple surgical specialties. 

Demonstratesgood organizational skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. 

The surgical technologistis authorized tohandlesmedications, syringes, needles, etc. and is accountableto the registered nurse for oversight of this practice.
