THE POSITION

Become a Corrections Locksmith with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix and take on work that truly matters. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of lock systems used throughout SCI Phoenix. The work helps ensure the safe and secure operation of the facility. As a Corrections Locksmith, you will perform the following duties:

• Lock System Work: Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic locking equipment
• Key Management: Produce keys, adjust master key systems, and document broken or missing keys
• Inventory Control: Determine needed tools and materials and maintain an active supply of parts and equipment
• Inmate Oversight: Supervise inmates performing non security tasks and maintain related records
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all completed work

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in the locksmith trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

This position issubject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
