Field Hazmat Technician

Essel Environmental provides on-demand emergency and disaster response personnel throughout the United States. The field hazmat technician is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, general construction and other tasks.

Job responsibilities:

• Utilize hand-tools and equipment, absorbent booms and pads to contain and remediate impacted surfaces, soils and waters.
• Operate light and heavy equipment including: pumps, vacuum, oil spill boom, generators, bobcats, etc.
• Perform emergency response activities including: chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, tank cleaning, equipment decontamination.
• Be able to meet a 12 hour night or day shift work schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Able to work on-call projects as well as longer term projects
• Experience with pump watch, setting up gabion walls and sediment removal required
• Ability to perform labor intensive activities in any weather or environmental conditions
• Reliable local transportation
• Ability to perform duties while adhering to safety priorities while wearing PPE, such as respirators and protective clothing

Job types: full-time, contract

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
