AI / Data Science Intern

Overview Position Summary: Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) is seeking an AI / Data Science Intern to support the development and implementation of a production scanning and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) system. This role will work on real-world machine learning applications tied directly to manufacturing operations, helping improve automation and data accuracy. Responsibilities Assist in testing and validating OCR and machine learning outputs Clean, organize, and label datasets to improve model performance Support development of automated workflows within production processes Analyze system performance and recommend improvements Collaborate with engineering and operations teams Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or related field Familiarity with Python or similar programming language Exposure to machine learning concepts or tools preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills What You\'ll Gain Hands-on experience applying AI in a live manufacturing environment Exposure to production systems and automation tools Opportunity to contribute to a high-impact operational initiative Direct exposure to leadership and cross-functional teams Compensation & Schedule Hourly rate based on academic year: Freshman: $16.00/hour Sophomore: $17.00/hour Junior: $18.00/hour Senior: $19.00/hour Full-time summer internship (10-12 weeks, ~40 hours/week) Opportunity for future full-time employment based on performance Eligibility Requirements Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Pursuing a degree in a relevant field Strong communication and teamwork skills Other Requirements CME positions require access to controlled goods under ITAR/EAR regulations; applicants must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by these regulations Compliance with U.S. federal law requires verification of identity and work eligibility; CME cannot employ individuals who do not meet these criteria, including those on student or temporary work visas Completion of Predictive Index Assessments About CME Custom Manufacturing & Engineering, Inc.
