RN Intermediate Care

Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) is a 24-bed unit. All beds are private and feature telemetry monitoring. The unit admits patients aged 15 through end of life. Patients have a wide variety of diagnoses, including heart failure, respiratory illness, renal failure, and post‑heart catheterization conditions. ACLS certification is required within 6 months of employment. The IMC nurse provides non‑invasive assessment and interventions every 2‑8 hours for patients with low to mild probability of complications, and provides hospice and end‑of‑life care. Scope of Work The clinical nurse, under the American Nurses Association scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional, patient‑family centered care according to Corewell Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s required within 5 years of graduation) NCLEX licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, obtained within 6 months of employment Specialty certification in critical or intermediate care highly recommended within 2 years of hire Minimum 1 year of RN experience in acute care (or 2 years in a licensed health‑care role if from a non‑accredited nursing program) Shift & Schedule Full‑time night shift, 7pm‑7:30am, 36 scheduled hours per week. Days worked vary; the schedule includes every other weekend.
