General Manager of Will Rogers Memorial Center (WRMC) Gendy Street Management Corp (GSMC) is looking for a General Manager of the Will Rogers Memorial Center (WRMC). The General Manager is responsible for the efficient and professional operation of the memorial center, overseeing overall management, promotion, and operation of the facility, and coordinating strategies for venue success. Job Summary Responsible for the overall management and promotion of the facility, development and coordination of strategies for the success of the venue. Essential Job Functions Address mission‑critical needs of business development, operational excellence, and customer service responsiveness. Provide day‑to‑day management and departmental oversight. Oversee planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of equestrian & livestock events, galas, trade shows, banquets, conventions, and community events. Evaluate operational performance and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction. Develop and implement operational goals, policies, procedures, and long‑term business strategies. Serve as primary liaison among the venue, city leadership, event promoters, community organizations, vendors, and stakeholders. Communicate with business organizations, community groups, and show groups regarding facility accommodations and services. Coordinate with promoters, clients, vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, and organizers to ensure successful event execution. Ensure compliance with city regulations, safety standards, licensing requirements, and contractual obligations. Prepare the proposed annual operating budget and update forecasts for revenues and expenditures. Perform contract administration duties, including proposal evaluation, bid negotiation, contract term recommendation, performance evaluation, and compliance oversight. Monitor revenue streams, expenses, contracts, and profitability of venue operations. Analyze financial reports and operational metrics to support strategic decision‑making. Make recommendations for capital improvements. Plan for existing and future staffing, equipment, and material needs. Analyze and recommend actions for complex, sensitive, and controversial issues. Make recommendations on fees, rules, and regulations of the facilities. Ensure compliance with employment laws, city policies, and workplace safety standards. Monitor facility readiness, maintenance, cleanliness, security, and crowd management. Review effectiveness of programs and initiate changes where appropriate. Respond to client concerns and resolve operational issues professionally and timely. Support marketing and public relations initiatives to enhance venue visibility and attendance. Prepare reports and correspondence as needed. Promote employee development, teamwork, and operational excellence. Foster a positive, service‑oriented culture focused on professionalism, accountability, and guest satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Agricultural Management, Recreation & Tourism, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5–7 years of management experience in an arena, convention center, hotel, or similar public assembly facility. Preferred experience managing large public events, trade shows, and/or agricultural or livestock events. Knowledge of current industry practices in operating exposition or convention centers. Ability to research, develop, and maintain relationships with event organizers and promoters. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with business representatives, civic groups, service organizations, state and local officials, staff, and the general public. Ability to manage a complex budget and increase revenue through promotion and marketing of the facility year‑round. Ability to manage large events under public scrutiny. Knowledge of safety regulations, federal, state, and local laws. Knowledge of principles of planning, administration, management, and personnel supervision. Analytical judgment and decision‑making skills. Must work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must communicate effectively with management, guests, and team members. Must handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment. Working Conditions Work environment with fluctuating temperatures. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. Must work around animals typical in fair/4H/FFA settings (horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, dogs, etc.). Must spend the majority of the day working on a computer and other office devices. Must stand, walk, travel stairs; limited or no sitting. Must tolerate high noise levels and fluctuating lights in event settings. Must reach, lift, and bend to perform duties. Must be exposed to hazardous chemicals, electrical shock risks, and vibrations. Must handle hazards associated with moving vehicles and adhere to safety protocols.
