Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Shift : 5:15am to 1:00pm Monday through Friday

Location: Sanford Treatment Center

Summary:
Responsible for quality nursing care to assigned patients. Gather pertinent patients information and report to Medical Director. Administration of methadone and buprenorphine in accordance with medical director's orders. Initiate actions based on the priorities set by the treatment/stabilization plan and the medical regime as designated by the Medical Director. Assist the medical director in performing physicals. Be able to take accurate blood pressure and pulse rate measurements. Participates in staff meetings and treatment team meetings providing feedback to staff, and Medical Director. Participates in nursing meetings. Provide competent, safe, quality, professional care to each patient of the facility in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Provide information to clinical director regarding dosage history and attendance. Utilize knowledge of chemical dependency, detoxification and withdrawal symptoms during educational sessions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, other duties may be assigned. 

• Takes information from patient at the time of intake and report this information to Medical Director. 
• Monitors the demeanor of the patient in the phase of induction to the medication and during all medication administration. 
• Complete assessments per medical director orders. Identifies and reports to medical director any critical incidents immediately. 
• Identifies medical emergencies and calls 911 and administers
• CPR and First Aid as necessary. 
• Observes urine drug screens. 
• Record urine drug screen results in patient charts. 
• Participates in screening of potential patients. 
• Utilize her/his professional skills to assist medical director in crisis interventions and performing educational sessions to patients. Provide HIV education,
• TB testing, Hepatitis Virus Testing and information, RPR' s, lab work, and monitor the results of the urine drug screen testing with the clinical staff. Follow medical director's federal regulations in giving take home medication. 
• Assuring that take-home medication is safely stored in a locked box. 
• Monitor narcotic inventory and reporting any discrepancy to clinical director. 
• Will participate in nursing after hours phone rotation.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualification Requirements: 

• RN/LPN license required.  
• Ability to work independently as well as with team, ability to maintain high level of professional ethics and confidentiality as outlined by Federal Law protecting substance abuse patients.

Language and Skills: 

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general medical lab results reports and
• documents. 
• Ability to respond to regulatory agencies. 
• Ability to accurately and effectively present information to Medical Director.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: RN/LPN license, CPR, First Aid
