Operates semi-truck with one or two trailers in accordance with state laws. Transport and secure loads over required routes to the proper destinations, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Chocks rear wheels of trailers and places nose stand before any unloading takes place. Remove chocks and nose stand before driving away from shipping dock or designated area. Obtains shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paperwork to shipping office. Maintains any related record required by DOT Laws. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Reports any maintenance issues to the Transportation Supervisor. May switch empty and full trailers in shipping yard during off shifts to support optimum loading patterns for the following day. Operates within a 100 air-mile radius.What will make you successful? Must be able to understand and follow basic commands in English. Must be able to complete required checklist of duties and responsibilities. Must have basic math skills and be able to use a calculator and read a tape measure. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Valid state issued Class A CDL required. Oregon HazMat endorsement required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Strong tact and diplomacy when interacting with customer personnel at delivery locations. High degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity in operating tractor trailers and preventing damage to materials and equipment. Ability to sit in a trailer cab for an extended period of time. Ability to operate forklifts and Combi's. Ability to lift and move 40-lb wooden skid or pallet. Must be able to meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and medical requirements. Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing random on-going drug and alcohol screenings.
