Middle and High School Substitute Teacher

Headwaters School is in search of caring individuals to join our community as Middle and High School Substitute Teachers. Our ideal candidates will have teaching or childcare experience, flexible schedules, and a willingness to work with limited notice. Our High School is an International Baccalaureate World School offering the Diploma Programme and a unique college-preparatory experience where rigorous academic demands are combined with a commitment to nurture and support the overall wellbeing of our students. About this Position Substitute Teachers are responsible for providing and implementing the daily lesson plans according to the School's requirements. In addition, they are charged with managing the classroom environment, providing activities, materials, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, required International Baccalaureate or Montessori experience, preferred Experience working with children/students, required Professional appearance Knowledge & Skills Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Passion for working with young people. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies. Working Conditions Services are generally provided within a standard classroom environment. Some movement throughout the classroom is generally necessary to facilitate learning (e.g., standing, walking, stooping, bending, sitting, and/or kneeling). Light lifting of materials and other objects associated within a classroom environment is required (e.g., books, teaching aids, up to approximately 20 to 40 lbs.).
