Job Overview

The Patient Financial Services Specialist is responsible for managing patient financial inquiries, ensuring accurate account updates, and delivering high-quality customer service. This role requires strong knowledge of insurance processes, billing workflows, and patient communication.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years of experience in:
• Customer service
• Patient financial services
• Hands-on experience with:
• Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
• Financial assistance programs
• Patient disputes and issue resolution
• Insurance verification
• Authorization processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Epic (EHR system)

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to web-based and email inquiries
• Manage and work assigned Epic work queues
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex internal and external inquiries
• Accurately update patient account information (registration, insurance, etc.)
• Maintain detailed and compliant documentation for all accounts
• Follow up on unresolved customer issues until completion
• Conduct patient call-backs as needed
• Process and respond to patient correspondence in a timely manner
• Handle escalated cases with professionalism and efficiency
