Family Law Trial Attorney

Are you a skilled family law litigator who thrives in the courtroom and wants to do your best work — without the commute? We're a growing, tech-forward primarily remote family law firm looking for a seasoned trial attorney to join our collaborative team.

This is a litigation-heavy position for an attorney who is comfortable walking into a courtroom and taking ownership. You will independently manage a family law caseload from intake through resolution, focusing on contested hearings and trials.

Our law firm seeks a family attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Prospective attorneys should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Responsibilities

• Prepare for and handle multiple‑day family law trials
• Travel to Cook, Lake, DuPage, and/or Will County for in‑person court
• Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
• Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
• Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action
• Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases
• Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed

Qualifications

• At least 7–10 years of experience in a law firm or as a solo practitioner on family law issues
• Ability to successfully represent both petitioners and respondents in contested hearings and trials
• A 4‑year degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are necessary for this position
• Great negotiator and communicator, especially in situations when emotions and stress are high
• Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
